In a "niche market" like Audit, Risk & Compliance, a good reputation is very important. I find that it is mostly about reliability and trust. As Partner at ARC People, I work every day (together with co-founder Marc van Heese) to earn that trust from my clients. In doing so, I rely on my substantive knowledge of the field, the network I have built over many years and our driven team of colleagues.

Before entering entrepreneurship over 15 years ago, I worked as an Internal Auditor and Risk Manager. Through my management and teaching positions I was able to contribute to the development of the profession. I still like to be tempted to occasionally contribute to challenging substantive issues myself. That way, in addition to the energy required to run the company, I always have one foot in the content. 

A growing company and great customer issues require and give a lot of energy. Fortunately, there is enough time left over for 'the other beautiful things in life'. With a wife who cooks particularly well and a son who wants to make a career in hospitality, our home is all about good food and drink. When it comes to wine, you can challenge me and I am happy to open a good bottle from my cellar to enjoy it together. To keep fit, I make grateful use of a gym within walking distance and try to be present twice a week at the local athletics club.
